A few days ago, while enjoying the famous Irani Chai at Deccan Morsels with my friends Sayeem and Lalon, Sayeem mentioned the phrase “Attention is All You Need.” It instantly sparked my curiosity. After diving into the foundational 2017 paper by Google researchers, I quickly understood why it has become a meme. What I found even more intriguing is that the title is a clever reference to The Beatles’ song “All You Need Is Love,” which adds a fun twist to such a groundbreaking innovation!
The paper introduces the transformer architecture, which has become a cornerstone of modern AI and powers technologies like GPT. While originally focused on machine translation, its applications have expanded into areas like multimodal generative AI.
Having worked with predictive AI, I’m now exploring this fascinating new frontier of generative AI and its ethical implications. It’s an exciting journey, and I’m eager to learn more!
